This is a picture of the team from the Trainingslager aka Trainings Camp. We had most of the returners from last year at the camp and six brand new girls to the team who just started softball within the past few months. They go to the school of the Manager for our team so that is how they get connected to the team. We practiced, Friday afternoon to Monday evening. We also slept at the house/clubhouse that is right by the field. We slept in one big room on the second story, the first story has the showers, kitchen and eating area. It was cool because we would all eat breakfast and dinner together then go over softball things like situations, goals, sponsors, etc and then play some games in the evening after dinner. Then we would all go to sleep in our sleeping bags, air beds, etc. It was great because Walter has this fold out cot thing for fishing and it is really nice. I used that to sleep on and his sleeping bag that he still had from the army. It was nice to practice with the team outside, but all of us were very rusty :(
This is a picture of the team after our last practice on Monday with a sign from our sponsor. We needed a big sponsor this year to help pay for the charter bus we are taking to Amsterdam in August for the European Cup. And also for other things. Oh and the only downfall of the weekend was that at the last practice, in the last drill of course the youngest girl who just started softball got a fly ball to the face. It was so sad. But, nothing crazy happened, she just had a red cheek. I totally dropped everything and sprinted over to the baseball field (like 100 yards away) to get an ice pack. The players were shocked at how fast I acted since most of them were still standing around wondering what to do. Once I gave her the ice pack in the dugout, we continued with the last part of the drill.
