Overdue update

Its been a while and a lot has happened. Softball is going well. The Pee Wees are 11-1 and we have at least 18 games in August!! We have 3 doubleheaders in 8 days starting August 1st and then have 8 games in the European Championships in Haarlem, Netherlands...then one more doubleheader against the Sharx and the final four the first weekend of September.
Our good friends Sean, Germaine and Vinny are now back in the States. They had been playing football in STP since January and had become very good friends of mine and Jamie while we were here. This night was at the opening night of a new club/bar in town that one of our baseball friends works at. There were many more fun times spent with these guys over the past few months. They were also our number 1 fans at two of our home games. They would sit on a bench behind center field and quote baseball movies and cheer for our team. It was hilarious! After these two game days, my team started calling me Benzo because they would cheer "Benzooooooo bring the heat!" and more like that.

The weather has been very hot the past few weeks in the 80s and 90s and humid. There have been many afternoons spent at the lake to cool off and hang out with friends. I did participate with Jamie and Karin from my team in the Wasserball Championships. This is a small competition in a pool of a cousin of our first baseman in a neighboring village of St. Poelten. It was a really fun afternoon with funny pictures, and playing in a pool with a beach ball with some Austrians. This is a picture with the guys that organized the event. I played last year and again it was a great afternoon with better weather this year. Some of the guys joked that if our team won, we would have to host the competition next summer in California...and of course pay for everyone's flight. Fortunately for us, we did not get too far in the tournament.
